As a Cloud Data Architect, you will collaborate closely with the CTO on engineering projects and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the CTO and Head of Analytics to develop cloud applications for internal and external data consumers.
  2. Develop end-to-end data pipelines between key data sources and destinations using GCP resources such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL, Data Prep/Proc/Flow.
  3. Deploy applications using a combination of technologies such as Python, Django, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  4. Strategize, design, validate, and execute best practices in data architectures, orchestration, storage, and flows to enhance speed, scalability, and support for both structured and unstructured data types.
  5. Continuously monitor, update, and enhance the security of our cloud endpoints, environments, access points, and role-based permissions.
  6. Provide expert consulting on Google Cloud Platform and related analytics connectors and platforms.
  7. Develop and maintain data observability functions, including process optimization and monitoring to manage cloud computing costs.
  8. Create and maintain documentation, code repositories, and wikis effectively.
  9. Collaborate as a team with key stakeholders, end-users, team members, data practitioners, and non-practitioners.
  10. Facilitate regular knowledge-sharing sessions, ideation, and presentation of best practices and learnings.

About you:

You possess proven experience as a Data Architect or Engineer specialising in the Google Cloud Platform. You have successfully advised, scoped, developed, validated, and deployed intricate data infrastructures on GCP for various clients and businesses. Your expertise extends to comprehending the intricacies of the data landscape, coupled with a thorough understanding of digital marketing objectives and business goals.

Your skill set includes proficient hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and JavaScript. You excel in optimizing applications for both computational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and you are adept at handling complex requirements for RDBMS data warehousing and storage, encompassing Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and PostgreSQL, for datasets of varying sizes. Your advanced proficiency extends to Python development and frameworks like Django, alongside familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes.

Security and compliance are paramount to you, and you possess a keen awareness of requirements such as GDPR, ISO 279001, UK Cyber Security Essentials, and SOC II. Continuously seeking opportunities to enhance application development for data consumers and end-users alike, you strive to improve the overall user experience while ensuring that our tech products align with business objectives and deliver exceptional performance.

Ideally, you bring:

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience as a cloud data architect/engineer in a reputable SaaS company or digital agency within the UK, collaborating with analytics and data engineering teams.
  • Profound expertise, including:
  • Applied knowledge in SQL, Python, and JavaScript (minimum 4 years).
  • Valid GCP Certification or profound domain expertise in the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem (minimum 4 years).
  • Proficiency in crafting ETL/ELT pipelines for data processing and ingestion, substantiated by providing an example architecture diagram and a brief summary of deployed solutions.
  • Effective communicator possessing an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of comprehensively understanding the utilization and marketing of our products. Skilled at aligning key stakeholders, including end-users, clients, and internal teams, with our technological and data objectives.
  • Adaptability to work within continuous iterative sprint workflows, accommodating quick turnarounds and regular standups.
  • Recognition of the value of iterative improvement over striving for absolute perfection.
  • Possession of an experimental mindset, embracing failure as part of the learning process and displaying enthusiasm for testing and implementing new ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with developers, clients, practitioners, and non-practitioners, as well as internal teams reliant on your expertise.

Beneficial qualifications include:

  • University degree, preferably at the MA level.
  • Over 4 years of work experience as a cloud data architect/engineer in a reputable SaaS company or digital agency in the UK.
  • Valid analytics certification.
